Visit with Auntie Shana

We had a wonderful visit with Auntie Shana last weekend when she came into town for a conference where she was presenting some research. Caleb was so excited to see her when she arrived. Let me backtrack a little. For weeks before this, Caleb would just talk about her or mention her seemingly out of the blue. Although he hasn't had the opportunity to spend much time with her, she has certainly made a deep impression on him. I didn't tell him that she was coming because, let's face it, he's 2 and doesn't have any sense of time. But he kept mentioning her, so I would show him pictures and we would call and leave a message on her cell phone. So I think when he actually saw her, it was almost as though he thought, "She really does exist!"



We had a great visit filled with pedicures for us girls, a birthday celebration for me with Grandma Lou Lou and Grandpa Chuck, going swimming, going to the flower fields, the beach, a walk around the Carlsbad Company Stores, and just playing and relaxing. We all truly loved having Shana here and are looking so forward to her and the Van Cleave boys moving down to LA this summer (even if it is only for two years).
